Sports stars back auction for cancer research

A CHARITY fashion show and auction organised by two Bristol friends is taking place in June.

Chic & Swagger has been put together by best friends and business partners Georgina Webb and Dionne Vincent, who have both known people affected by cancer and want to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

The event is on Friday, June 29 from 7pm at the Dolman Exhibition Hall at Ashton Gate Stadium.

Tickets are on sale – there are VIP tables of ten available and also standard seating tickets.

The pair want company sponsors to help cover overheads, to make sure all the profits go to the charity.

There are plans for other events including a family fun day on April 8 at 12pm at the Concorde Pub in Stockwood, where there will be a bouncy castle, face painting, kid's entertainment, live bands and performers, sponsored head shaving and games.

There will be a charity car wash on April 14 at Ashton Gate Stadium from 12-4pm at £5 a car.

A boxing evening is being held on May 5 at Riverside Boxing Club from 6pm.

There will be a football tournament on Durdham Downs on May 19 featuring former Bristol City player Scott Murray and former Bristol Rovers star Geoff Twentyman.

A flashmob will be hitting the streets of Bristol in June – at Cabot Circus, The Galleries in Broadmead and The Mall, Cribbs Causeway.

Auction items for the main event are flooding in, including signed boxing gloves from Joe Egan and Jane Couch, Nathan Cleverly, a South Africa Football shirt signed by Steven Pienaar, signed David James football gloves, Bristol City home and away signed shirts and a year's gym pass at Trojan, beauty treatments, hair treatments, and short breaks.
